Middle Fork Outfitter’s 2020 Spring Newsletter

Greetings from Middle Fork Outfitters;

2019 was a busy year for us; we renewed old friendships & met new friends whom we shared some spectacular adventures with in our little piece of heaven in the Frank Church Wilderness.  We wanted to take the time to connect with you all to tell you what we’re up too this year & fill you in on some important dates & happenings here at the B-C & Simplot Ranches.

We are starting the spring off with a packing clinic April 9-12 at the B-C ranch. We still have a few spots open, if you want to learn how to pack mules and horses this is a great course to start you out.

From there we’ll be down on the Middle Fork to open up the Simplot ranch. We have some fun building & fencing projects that will keep us & our caretaker busy at Loon this summer.

May 1-30 is our guide school this year.  We usually hold this in July but decided to take advantage of the spring bear season. We have a few openings in the school if you know of anyone who is interested. This is an intensive course that will prepare students for working for an outfitter, packing & guiding or give one the confidence to head out on their own.

The first week of June we still have some openings for some spring bear hunts. By then the grass should be greening up & the wildflowers in full bloom.

July and August we have a few summer pack trips for fishing Camas Creek and the high lakes. The B-C is open for B&B along with trail rides, if you find yourself in the area.

We also have plans to get some work in around all the fun. From the conditions of the trails from the past fires we will spend 2 months clearing trails for the fall hunting season. We’re excited to be doing a few hunts from our Falconberry camp, on Loon Creek this coming season.  I’ve hunted here since 1997 & it’s one of my favorite camps. We’ve only hunted here once in the last 3 years; practicing our camp rotation. We expect to kill some big bulls and bucks. Our average buck score is 170 and we have killed a few over the 200 range. This is also big bull country. Due to some cancelations I have a couple spots still open in September and the last hunt, November 12-18. This is a great hunt & opportunity.

We are 1/3 booked for 2021 already, if you are planning a 2021 fall elk/deer hunt contact us, it’s not too early.

We would like the opportunity to show you our magnificent back yard the Frank Church Wilderness and share some fun adventures together.'
